Slow Foods Boulder Supports...
Slow Foods Boulder is proud to support the following organizations and establishments, all of whom support and promote Slow Food ideals.
¡Cultiva!
Growing Gardens, a non-profit organization, was established in 1998. Our mission is to cultivate community through gardening. Through gardening activities we work to create a sense of community and empowerment among various demographics including: youth, children, seniors, community gardeners, the disabled and low-income families. Our programs provide opportunities for people to create a sustainable way of life that benefits others in the community, the environment and themselves.
The Cultiva! Youth Project involves diverse teenagers in organic gardening as a means to teach at-risk youth sustainable agriculture, leadership, entrepreneurial and life skills. This project serves over 200 youth and 300 children annually. Eight Youth Leaders work year-round to plan and implement the program, 45 youth are hired to work daily during the summer and an additional 150 youth participate in service learning projects with Cultiva! The youth manage a two-acre organic garden and cultivate produce to donate to the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless and Community Food Share. The Cultiva! participants encourage the community to support local, organic agriculture while generating income for the project and learning business skills by selling a portion of their produce at the Boulder County Farmer's Market. The youth learn leadership and mentoring skills by teaching younger children in the Children's Peace Garden. In addition, the youth learn civic responsibility and give back to the larger community by participating in a number of community service projects.

Boulder Slow Food Purveyors
The Slow Food Boulder committee has reviewed producers and outlets to be included on this list (thanks for your patience while we transfer this spreadsheet into a webpage). Inclusion will be based on a focus on Slow food principles - supporting local, farm, organic, natural, sustainable and more, location, uniqueness, cultural interest, retail availability to consumers, support of Slow events, etc.
If you have suggested additions, please send comprehensive information to us. If you see anything that has changed or should be deleted, or you have more information on a purveyor, please let us know. slowfoodboulder@yahoo.com

The Renewing America’s Food Traditions Project - RAFT
To document, restore, and celebrate the incredible diversity of America's edible plants, animals, and food traditions, seven of the most prominent food, agriculture, education and conservation organizations in the United States came together under Slow Food USA to launch RAFT, the country's first eco-gastronomic conservation project. Uniting gastronomy’s emphasis on food quality and cultural traditions with conservationists’ knowledge of agricultural biodiversity and their imperative to preserve it, RAFT projects work with farmers, chefs, and consumers to develop and promote conservation strategies, sustainable food production, public policy initiatives, and market based incentives.
...and we in the Rocky Mountain region are Bison Nation!
We have recently returned from our first regional Bison Nation meeting in Colorado Springs,
where our Governor, Matt Jones, introduced our region to the plans for bringing
this new regional designation to our convivium and our work with Slow Food.
We will keep you informed here of our Bison Nation!
